Biography

Carl Pantle is a passionate and engaging musician. From the first rehearsal to the last
performance, what he brings to the musical table is confidence and heart. His belief that
the arts can be a vehicle for creating positive change in the world has galvanized a deep
connection with his instrument and the musicians he collaborates with. An adrenaline junkie at heart, Carl gets a thrill out of communicating with a receptive audience, which adds fuel to the fire of all his musical endeavors.

Well known as a collaborative pianist and vocal coach, and an alumnus of the Merola Program at San Francisco Opera, his credits as a repetiteur have spanned the Bay Area and beyond, most notably working with the San Francisco Opera Center, Opera San Jose, West Edge Opera, and West Bay Opera, where he also served as ChorusMaster. After attending The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, he worked on staff as a vocal coach and accompanist, playing for dozens of productions, opera scenes programs and recitals.

Outside of the opera world, Carl’s “geeky theatre kid” dreams have come to life as a Music Director in productions at St. Mary’s College, 42nd Street Moon, and the Throckmorton Theatre, where he was Music Director in Residence. He also took to the stage playing the role of Daddy Warbucks in Throckmorton’s production of “Annie”.

Carl collaborated with some of the finest talent Broadway has to offer as the Music Director
of Broadway Against Bullying; San Francisco edition, featuring Daniel Reichard, Keala Settle, Julia Murney, and Jay Armstrong Johnson. Mr. Pantle has also appeared in concert with Tony award winners Patti LuPone and Laura Benanti.

For eleven seasons Carl was regularly seen at the piano in front of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, where he was Principal Accompanist and Assistant Artistic Director. His work as a pianist, arranger, orchestrator, and singer can be heard on numerous recordings released during his tenure. His affiliation with the chorus brought opportunities to perform the world premieres of multiple commissioned works and collaborate closely with living composers such as Ann Hampton Callaway, Andrew Lippa,
Stephen Schwartz and Jake Heggie.

Carl has an active and successful voice studio in his hometown of Oakley, CA, and
is enthusiastically involved in the arts and arts education in his community.
